BAR Alt Account Flags and Audio Bug Fixes
Two common BAR issues that trip up new players: getting flagged as an alt account by the automated system, and game audio hijacking Discord and other apps. Here is what the community has figured out.
The alt account false flag
Download BAR with a friend on the same weekend. Odds are good one of you gets auto-flagged as an alt account. The ticket review process runs on volunteer staff, and weekend submissions tend to move slower. Expect a wait, do not panic-queue multiple tickets. That only makes it worse. Submit one, wait, provide proof you are a separate human.
This happens because the anti-cheat system watches for accounts sharing IP addresses in a narrow time window. Two people on the same network installing at the same time triggers the same pattern as actual smurfing. The fix is patience and a clear support ticket.
Audio hijacking your other apps
This one is weird. Game volume set to five percent, join a lobby, switch teams, or hit start, and suddenly every other app goes deaf. Discord audio cuts out. Sometimes the game volume spikes on its own. Nobody has traced this to a single root cause, but the pattern points to audio device switching when Windows reconfigures on lobby events.
Workarounds people actually use:
- Lock your default audio device in Windows Sound Control Panel. Disable anything you do not use.
- Set BAR to a specific output device if the launcher option exists.
- Restart the Discord audio subsystem after the lobby loads. Click the gear icon, go to Voice & Video, and hit Reset Voice Settings.
- Keep game muting on a hotkey rather than trusting the system mixer to behave.
The audio stack in BAR has been a moving target for years. These are band-aids, not cures, but they work well enough to not lose comms mid-game.
Getting good with OBS
Some recording setups capture BAR fine, others produce black screens or stuttering output. Game capture mode works better than display capture for most people. If OBS acts up, try running both BAR and OBS at the same resolution. Windowed borderless tends to play nicer with capture tools than fullscreen exclusive.
BAR renders through the Spring engine, which means the capture hook can get confused. If you are sharing replays and clips, a clean OBS setup saves you from troubleshooting why your ten-minute highlight reel is a black rectangle.

Ticket etiquette
When you do open a support ticket, include screenshots, your BAR version, what you were doing when the issue triggered, and steps to reproduce. A ticket with a subject line and three sentences of actual detail gets handled faster than a wall of frustrated caps. Staff are volunteers. Be clear, be specific, be patient.
Creed of Champions
BAR has a steep learning curve. Things break. You get flagged for things you did not do. The difference between a frustrating week and a solved problem is knowing where to look and how to ask. Play good, keep your tickets clean, and remember that everyone on the other end is just trying to help.
"The removal of toxicity, the goal of fun and learning, makes for a refreshing spot to play and spend time. It has also made a game with plenty of complexity a bit less daunting to dive into."
