Why BAR needs contributions
Beyond All Reason runs on community development. The volunteer team maintains a massive codebase. More contributors mean faster fixes, more features, and better stability for everyone. You can contribute through GitHub pull requests.
How to submit a pull request
Fork the BAR repository on GitHub. Make your changes in a local branch. Test everything locally before submitting. Open a pull request describing what you changed and why. The team reviews submissions and merges what meets quality standards.
The BAR documentation on GitHub explains the development setup process. Follow it carefully. PRs that do not build locally get closed without review.
Contributor rewards
Players who submit accepted pull requests earn contributor status. This comes with several benefits. Monthly internal meetings with the development team. Access to the contributor-only section of Discord. The ability to pick your own flag, including custom designs.
These perks are not cosmetic only. Contributors get direct visibility into development plans and priorities. They influence what gets built next through informed feedback.
Non-technical contributions
Not everything needs code. Art, sound design, balance analysis, documentation, and community management matter just as much. The team accepts contributions across all these areas. Technical skills are not the only path to contributor status.
Creed of champions
Creed of Champions includes several BAR contributors. Playing with developers who explain design decisions while you execute them is elite-level RTS education. The team benefits from inside knowledge of how the game actually works.
[Crd] Creede of Champions rekindled my joy in Beyond All Reason. I had burned out on the game, and the friendly, no-toxicity environment caused me to start enjoying it again.
