How to display the eco table on BAR replays

The economy comparison table you see casters use during matches is not a cheat. It is a built-in spectator HUD element that anyone can turn on.

Enabling the eco table in replays

Open the advanced base game settings menu from the main options screen. Look for the spectator HUD section and toggle the economy table display. Once enabled, the table appears during replay playback showing a real-time comparison of each player's metal and income versus expenditure.

Some players report the setting resets between sessions. If your eco table disappears after an update, check the spectator HUD settings again and re-enable it.

What the eco table shows

The table displays every player's current metal and energy income and spending. You can instantly see who has the economic advantage, who is over-expanding, and which player is struggling to maintain a positive balance.

Watching replays with this information visible teaches you to spot the economy mistakes you are making in your own games. Often the difference between winning and losing comes down to one player building more extractors and the other spending all their metal on units they cannot support.

Spectator settings for learning

Beyond the eco table, the spectator HUD offers several tools for reviewing matches:

  • Unit production counters for each player
  • Income and expenditure breakdowns
  • Army value comparisons
  • Map coverage and visibility overlays

Enabling all of them at once can overwhelm the screen. Start with the eco table and unit counters, then add layers as you get comfortable reading the data.

Where BAR saves your settings

If you want to back up your configuration or transfer it to another machine, your BAR config files live in the game installation directory. On Linux, check the dotfiles under your home directory configuration folder. On Windows, look in the main install folder where the game stores its preferences.

Copying these files between machines preserves your HUD settings, keybinds, and widget preferences.

Watch and learn with people who know

Watching replays alone is useful. Watching replays with experienced players who can point out what you are missing accelerates your understanding dramatically. Creed of Champions organizes regular replay review sessions where higher-rated players walk through economy mistakes, build timing errors, and army composition choices.
