Submit your replay for review

BAR runs a mentor program where seasoned players review replays and give constructive notes. To get one going, create a thread in the academy chat. Use the thread creation button at the top right of the academy channel. Then paste your replay link from the official BAR replay site. Include your in-game name if your account uses a different display name.

Replays save automatically unless the match was private. Find them at the BAR website replay section.

Using tweakdefs for unit balancing

Modders who want to adjust unit stats use tweakdefs files. The Spring engine wiki at springrts.com has a dedicated UnitDefs page with every field documented. This is the reference used by all BAR modders who change unit health, damage, or build times. Link it whenever someone asks how to modify units directly.

When your OS rating stays hidden

New players sometimes cannot see their open-skill rating after their first matches. This happens when your uncertainty value is still above 6.65. The fix is simple: play more ranked matches. Each game shrinks the uncertainty band until it drops below the threshold and your number appears. There is no button to force it. Just queue and play.

Practice against AI before going online

Single-player skirmishes let you test unit interactions, learn factory queues, and practice hotkeys without the pressure of a live opponent. Start with no opponents if you want to experiment freely. Place a factory, build a few unit types, and watch how they move and fight. Then scale up to AI opponents once you feel comfortable.

The scnearios channel on BAR community platforms has curated practice setups worth checking.

Creed of champions closing

Replay reviews hit different when reviewers actually care about your improvement. Creed of Champions trains people to give feedback that is direct, respectful, and actionable. The difference between a toxic flame and a useful review comes down to the person typing it.

[Crd] One of the few places where you can for sure coordinate with people in matches with a good supportive attitude. Everybody tends to be understanding and constructive.
