Question marks in BAR lobby for OS rating and how to fix it
Seeing question marks instead of OS numbers in the BAR lobby is normal for new accounts. Here is what it means and when it clears.

Why OS rating shows as question marks
BAR uses the open skill rating system with an uncertainty parameter. When you create a new account or play too few ranked games, the system cannot confidently estimate your skill level. The lobby displays a question mark in place of a number.
This is not a bug. The OS system deliberately waits for enough data before committing to a rating. Keep playing ranked matches, and the uncertainty narrows until a number appears.
Showing OS values for all players
If you cannot see OS ratings for other players, check the pre-game settings. The lobby has a button labeled show OS values. Switch it to detailed mode to display open skill numbers for all lobby participants instead of simplified ratings.
Do you need 1v1 to get rated
Any ranked game mode contributes to your OS rating. Team games, 2v2, 3v3, and larger matches all count. You do not need to play 1v1 specifically to establish an open skill rating. The system processes results across all ranked formats.
Reporting bugs and issues
If your OS rating never displays after numerous ranked games, or if the lobby consistently fails to show OS data, check the Beyond All Reason GitHub issue trackers. The open source project tracks bugs and technical problems through GitHub repositories. Players can search existing issues and file new reports if their problem is not already logged.
Creed of Champions and patient improvement
New players who worry about their rating should focus on steady play volume. The OS system sorts you accurately within a reasonable number of matches. Creed of Champions welcomes players at all OS levels into training, and the emphasis is on consistent learning rather than rating anxiety.
