How to Enable Epic and Scavenger Units in Beyond All Reason
If you have seen lobbies running Epic AFUSs, Archaic Sol Invicticus, or Epic Build turrets and wondered how to get them, the answer is straightforward: enable the extra and scavenger units pack under Advanced Options in the lobby settings.
Where to find the extra units pack
When you set up a lobby, look for the Advanced Options section. Inside you will find an option called the extra and scavenger units pack. Toggle it on and every unit from that pack becomes available for both factions. Works in standard lobbies and modded games alike.
New players often miss this toggle because it hides past the basic settings screen. If you want the wild weapons that show up in casual Supreme Commander-style lobbies, this is the switch.
What counts as extra or scavenger units
The pack bundles experimental and scavenger units that sit outside the standard roster. Things like the Archaic Sol Invicticus, massive commander variants, and Epic-tier factory units. These are not part of the base game balance, so expect them to break matches in the most entertaining ways possible.
The tech split conversation
Enabling experimental units ties into a bigger debate in the BAR community about the tech split. GDT took the idea seriously after players raised concerns about the grid menu burying second-page units, which creates a rough experience for newcomers. The tech split remains a work in progress. Feedback from players matters more than taking rigid positions on what X or Y will happen.
If you care about how the game organizes its tech tree, joining the conversation with actual experience is the best move. The developers listen.
Closing
The extra units pack opens up a sandbox layer of Beyond All Reason that rewards experimentation. Flick it on in your next casual lobby and see what happens. Watch a few gameplay rounds on YouTube to see what these units look like in action, then try them yourself. Creed of Champions
BAR thrives when players approach strange new units with curiosity. Experimenting with off-roster stuff in a supportive environment keeps the game fresh and gives everyone something to talk about after the match ends.
"Creed is the first really comfortable community I have been a part of. Everyone is nice and kind, the atmosphere is relaxed, and I am not getting yelled at for not being optimal."
