Where to place LRPC units in the BAR backline
Long-range precision cannon (LRPC) units in Beyond All Reason can dominate a map when positioned right. Put them too far forward and they die. Place them too far back and they cannot fire at the right targets.

Understanding LRPC range in practice
LRPC range stats tell half the story. The real question is how deep into enemy territory the fire actually reaches. BAR weapon range determines maximum distance, but terrain, line of sight, and enemy radar coverage all narrow the effective zone.
The most powerful LRPC sits on elevated ground with clear sightlines into the enemy midline. That position lets you hit factories, energy production, and advancing raids before they reach their target. It also means enemy counter-battery fire has a harder time reaching you.
Backline placement rules
Follow these principles when parking long-range fire.
- Elevation first. High ground increases effective range and gives line of sight over terrain that would otherwise block shots.
- Keep them behind your front force. If enemy raiders can walk to your LRPC without meeting resistance, your placement failed. Build a protective screen of cheaper units in front.
- Spread them out. One artillery shell from the enemy can wipe a cluster of static ranged units. Stagger their positions to survive counter-fire.
- Watch the flanks. LRPCs are nearly always aimed forward. A flank attack on an unguarded side destroys them before they can rotate. Place scouts to cover blind spots.
When to reposition
Static artillery becomes a liability the moment the front line moves significantly. If your LRPC is firing at targets at the extreme edge of its range while the actual fight has shifted fifty percent closer, relocate. Walking the unit to a new position costs time but keeps it relevant.
LRPC placement is not a set-and-forget decision. Review your positioning every few minutes and ask whether the unit is actually helping the current fight.
Creed of Champions
Smart positioning like this matters more in team games where coordination amplifies every advantage. Creed of Champions members practice positioning fundamentals in structured team play, so the backline setup becomes second nature.
[Crd] Creed of Champions is a great place to learn and play BAR in a friendly atmosphere. Training sessions, team gameplay, even some non-BAR stuff. Large cross section of abilities, time zones, and game mode interests.
Serious strategy without the social friction. Creed focuses on teamwork, discipline, and steady improvement in a community that values cooperation over ego.
