New BAR players discover that the Barbarian AI does not prioritize attacking your walls. This creates a powerful defensive strategy. Here is how to use walls creatively against AI opponents.

Barbarian AI units avoid walls. They will not attack a wall unless it directly blocks their path, and even then they take the path of least resistance. This means you can surround your base with walls and the AI simply cannot get in.
The strategy works particularly well with T1 pop-up walls. These are cheap, fast to build, and the AI does not waste resources trying to break through them. A complete wall perimeter around your base makes you effectively invulnerable to AI rushes.
Build a continuous wall line around your base. Leave a gap for your own units to exit. The maze does not need to be complex. A simple perimeter wall with a gateway works. The AI cannot pathfind through the gap well enough to coordinate an effective attack.
While the AI is stuck outside, expand your economy freely. Build metal extractors, solar arrays, and T2 production inside your safe zone. The AI will not adapt to breach your walls even after waiting many minutes.
The Barbarian AI has known pathfinding limitations. It will not go out of its way to destroy walls unless forced. A human player sees the wall, recognizes what you are doing, and destroys the wall immediately. Use the maze strategy only against AI opponents.
Against human players, walls serve a different purpose. They slow pushes, create choke points, and force attackers through predictable lanes. But a human will always prioritize breaking through, so walls must be backed by mobile defense.
Solo queue in BAR can be rough. Teammates may not coordinate well. If you are struggling to find good teammates, the AI maze strategy is excellent practice. It lets you work on your economy and build order fundamentals without the pressure of a ranked match.
Creed of Champions helps solo players find consistent teammates. Practicing against AI teaches mechanics. Playing with coordinated teammates teaches teamwork. You need both to reach your potential in BAR.
