What it takes to build a map in BAR and what tools are coming with the Steam release.
Building a BAR map involves heightmap sculpting, Gaussian splatting for terrain textures, and Perlin noise for natural-looking ground variation. Map makers also work with custom resource placement and pathing constraints. It is a multistep process, but the tools are available and the community helps newcomers learn them.
The SD7 format referenced in map discussions is related to the engine texture system, not unique to BAR.
An API for extended game data is in development and tied to the Steam release. This includes better player statistics, replay search, and potentially third-party tool support for things like ladder tracking and match analytics.
If you register but do not receive an account confirmation email, check the support channels on the BAR Discord. The team can manually verify and resolve registration issues.
[Crd] Everyone is nice and kind, the atmosphere is relaxed, and I am not getting yelled at for not being optimal.
Win with skill, teamwork, and respect.
