Average player baseline

The average BAR player sits around 4 chevrons as a reference point. This means most players you encounter in standard lobbies have reached this level. If you are below that, you are still in the learning phase, which is completely normal.

Progression through levels

Chevron requirements change at each level. Lower levels come quickly. Higher levels require consistent performance across many matches. The rating system tracks your OpenSkill separately for each team size: 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and above.

Where to check your ratings

Visit the Battle Server Ratings page at server4.beyondallreason.info/battle/ratings to see all your current ratings broken down by team size. This is the most reliable source, more accurate than in-game lobby displays.

Rating and lobby expectations

Lobbies with max rating 20 or 25 still contain experienced players. If the lobby is labeled "noob" but allows high ratings, expect skilled opponents. True beginner lobbies need lower rating caps to be genuinely accessible.

Creed of Champions: growth mindset

Rating numbers measure progress, they do not determine your worth. Creed of Champions focuses on growth through teamwork and discipline. Players at every chevron level find value in the community.
