Dropping commandos into an enemy base sounds fun. It actually works when executed right. Here is what to expect.

The purpose of commando drops

Commando units are designed exactly for this kind of raid. Dropping them into an undefended enemy base can destroy key buildings, disrupt production, and force the opponent to pull units away from the frontline. If you pull it off, it swings the game in your favor and feels great doing it.

What you need to know before trying

Commandos require constant attention during a raid. You cannot drop them and forget about them. They need active micromanagement to survive long enough to do real damage. If you send them in and then switch back to your economy management, they die without accomplishing much.

Alt artillery options

Before committing to a commando drop, consider whether shelling with catapults or Basilisks would accomplish more. Ranged artillery can damage a base from safety without risking units. Commando drops work best as a surprise element when the enemy has no detection rather than a primary strategy.

Creed of Champions

Creed of Champions encourages experimentation with all unit types including unconventional strategies. If you want to try commando drops without getting flamed for a failed attempt, that is the environment for it.
