Players who leave a ranked match before it ends lose OpenSkill rating regardless of whether their team wins or loses. The system does not award partial credit for partial play. This prevents players from abandoning losing positions without consequence.
BAR players recognize that crashes happen. The community distinguishes between genuine crashes and intentional disconnects. Players who crash should rejoin quickly if possible. Teammates should use the take command to manage crashed player units.
Players who go afk without crashing create worse problems than leavers. Their army sits idle, creating an unbalanced game. Teammates using take can partially mitigate the damage. AFK rates feed into the community behavior tracking systems.
BAR does not currently use a formal karma system for match leavers. The community channels handle repeat offenders through moderation. Players who consistently leave or go afk face community moderation, including temporary restrictions and reputation impact.
Some communities implement soft reputation systems that affect queue times or match placement. BAR has discussed player tagging and cooldown systems but nothing is fully deployed. Until then, the community self-regulates through moderation.
