How to contribute to BAR development as a player

Beyond All Reason is open source and actively welcomes player contributions. You do not need to be a senior developer to make a real impact. Here is how it works.

Submit pull requests

Anyone can contribute to BAR through GitHub pull requests. This is the primary way technical contributions reach the game. If you find a bug, have a balance suggestion, or can write code for a feature, submit it through the open repositories.

What contributors get

Regular contributors receive contributor status in the BAR community. This includes access to monthly internal development meetings and a dedicated contributor section of the community server. You also get perks like choosing your own flag, including custom designs.

Non-technical contributions count too

Not every contribution requires code. Balance feedback, map testing, bug reports, and community moderation are all valuable. The development team specifically calls out that they need non-technical help alongside the engineering work.

Getting started

Join the BAR Discord, find the development channels, and read the contribution guidelines. Fork a repository, make your change, and submit a pull request for review. The maintainer team reviews submissions regularly and provides feedback on every submission.

Open source projects thrive on cooperative culture. Creed of Champions embodies the same collaborative spirit, focusing on teamwork, learning, and mutual respect both in game and in community projects.

[Crd] Having a space like here that offers a community, trainings, events, and the guarantee to not be judged or insulted by fellow members is really precious. Keeping the game safe, and more importantly, fun.
