BAR and C&C share RTS DNA, but the jump is larger than most veterans expect. Starting in the right lobby saves painful losses and builds good habits faster.

Skip the 8v8 meta maps at first

Supreme Ishmus and All That Glitters are the two most popular BAR maps. Both are 8v8. Both have deeply entrenched meta strategies. Jumping directly into these matches as a C&C convert means learning a rigid playbook while getting out-executed on every front. Save them for after you understand the basics.

Start with scenarios and skirmishes

The first three BAR scenarios function as tutorials. They teach economy management, factory queues, and basic combat pacing without the pressure of human opponents. Run all three before touching multiplayer. A few skirmish matches against AI solidifies the control patterns and UI knowledge you will need when real players enter the picture.

Find the right lobby

Three lobby types work well for newcomers:

For 1v1 and small team games, the player environment tends to be more forgiving than the big 8v8 matches. Rotato lobbies randomize map selection and have a looser meta, making them a comfortable stepping stone between practice and competitive play.

Account recovery after reinstall

Reinstalling BAR sometimes resets local profile information. If your username disappears, log into the BAR website with the email tied to your account. Your username displays there, and the community support channels can help recover access if the website login does not work.

Easing into team play

Learning BAR with teammates who understand your background makes the transition smoother. Communities with dedicated new-player programs accelerate that process considerably.

[Crd] Crd is the first really comfortable community I have been a part of. Everyone is nice and kind, the atmosphere is relaxed, and I am not getting yelled at for not being optimal.

Creed of Champions pairs C&C veterans with BAR players who know exactly which mechanics carry over and which need relearning from scratch.
