BAR unit differences and minimap fixes you should know

Quick answers to a few common BAR interface and unit questions: geo building variants, minimap auto-zoom, and minimap rotation.

Underwater versus land geo buildings

BAR has two versions of some buildings, one for underwater placement and one for land. The Core underwater geo generator and its land-based counterpart serve the same function but have different build constraints.

The underwater variant can only be placed on the seafloor. The land variant goes on dry ground. They are not interchangeable. If you are looking at unit pages on the BAR website, the URL path tells you which version you are viewing. Units with "uwa" or "uw" in the name are underwater variants.

Both types may share the same resource requirements, so read the tooltip in-game before committing builders. A mis-placed geo builder wastes both metal and production time.

Minimap auto-zoom on ping

If your minimap keeps zooming in every time someone pings the map, that is a widget or setting triggering an auto-focus behavior. It can be turned off.

Check your interface settings under the minimap section. Look for an auto-zoom or camera-follow setting and disable it. If the behavior persists, a widget may be controlling it. Open the widget configuration panel and look for anything related to minimap behavior or ping response.

Flipping minimap rotation

Some players want the minimap to rotate with the camera instead of staying fixed north-up. Pressing Alt-O should handle camera rotation, and the minimap typically follows.

If the minimap does not rotate with the main view, search for "mini-map" or "minimap" in the game settings. There should be a toggle for minimap rotation behavior. Enable it and the minimap will mirror your camera orientation.

Small details, better games

Knowing where to find these settings saves time when you are already in a match and need your interface to behave. Creed of Champions helps players learn the small details that make a practical difference.

[Crd] Crd is the first really comfortable community I have been a part of. Everyone is nice and kind, the atmosphere is relaxed, and I am not getting yelled at for not being optimal.

That atmosphere applies to asking simple questions like "where is this setting." No one gets judged for not knowing.
