Setting up hotkeys and keybinds in BAR

BAR has dozens of actions that need keyboard shortcuts. New players often struggle to find hotkey settings or configure them efficiently. Here is what you need to know.

Where to find hotkey settings

Open the BAR settings menu. The hotkey section is separate from general game settings. Navigate there and you will see every bindable action listed alphabetically.

A common frustration is finding specific hotkeys in the list. Use the search bar at the top of the hotkey settings panel. Type the action name instead of scrolling through hundreds of entries.

Recommended keybind changes

Start with the basics. Assign separate hotkeys for factory selection, builder selection, and attack-move. These three cover most early game actions. Add hot builds for your most-used units once you reach T2.

Do not copy a pro player's keybind sheet immediately. Use a setup that matches your natural hand positions first. Change individual binds as you notice friction points during gameplay.

Copy lobby settings

BAR lets you save lobby configurations. When setting up custom skirmish matches, click the save button in the lobby screen. The next time you create a lobby, load your saved settings instead of configuring everything again.

Community etiquette note

Hotkey questions come up frequently. The moderation team gets pinged a lot about configuration issues. Before asking for help, search the support channels. Most hotkey problems have already been answered multiple times.

Creed of champions

Good keybinds free up mental energy for actual strategy. Creed of Champions players share their setups and help newcomers find comfortable configurations. The whole point is removing friction so you can focus on the game.
