Common Beyond All Reason control and display problems that new players run into, and exactly how to fix each one.
Players coming from Total Annihilation expect Ctrl-C to select the commander. BAR uses different default bindings. The shortcut depends on your selected keybind scheme.
If you want TA-style controls, switch to the legacy binding preset in the settings menu. That scheme keeps several familiar key combos. You can also check and remap individual keys in the keybindings menu under Settings. Just search for commander and assign whatever key works for you.
One of the more jarring issues. The entire interface vanishes while you are playing, leaving you with a blank screen and a lot of confusion in the game window.
The fix is pressing F5. That key toggles the UI overlay on and off, mostly intended for taking screenshots. Accidentally hitting F5 during frantic gameplay is easy, and it looks like a crash until you remember that is what happened.
If F5 does not restore it, check your keybindings for the UI toggle and make sure nothing conflicts with it.
Discord Rich Presence shows what game you are playing and your current status on your profile. Some Linux users report it does not fire properly in BAR.
The working recommendation is to file a bug report in the appropriate BAR bug channel. The devs track issues posted through the right channels, and Linux edge cases sometimes slip through because the player base skews Windows-heavy.
The settings menu has a full keybindings view. Open Settings, navigate to Keys, and you get a searchable list of every action and its assigned key. If something feels wrong, the answer is in there. Do not guess through trial and error during a match. Set it up in a practice game or the main menu first.
Getting your controls dialed in before you hit multiplayer matches saves everyone frustration. Creed of Champions encourages players to learn the basics before jumping into team games so they can contribute meaningfully from game one. That means practicing controls, learning hotkeys, and knowing where the UI toggles are before the pressure starts.
[Crd] The removal of toxicity, the goal of fun and learning, makes for a refreshing spot to play and spend time. It has also made a game with plenty of complexity a bit less daunting to dive into.
