Understanding the OpenSkill rating curve in BAR

Beyond All Reason uses OpenSkill to rank players. The rating distribution tells players where they stand relative to the full community.

The curve

The full distribution sits at bar-stats.pro/playerskills. Roughly two percent of all players exceed an OpenSkill rating of thirty. Only sixteen players sit above fifty in large team battles.

Informal tier labels

The community uses informal ranges. Still-learning players fall between ten and twenty. Ratings between thirty and forty reach the top ten percent. Forty and above puts a player in the top one percent.

No formal categories exist. These labels reflect observed player distribution rather than official designations.

What the numbers mean for you

A player climbing from zero to twenty should expect steady gains while learning fundamentals. The jump from twenty to thirty demands solid macro and game sense movement. The climb beyond thirty requires deep strategic understanding and consistent execution across dozens of matches.
