BAR ping wheel feature and how negative ratings display

Two quick pieces of BAR knowledge that come up regularly: the incoming ping wheel feature and why some players appear to have zero rating when they actually have negative OpenSkill scores.

Incoming ping wheel

BAR has a ping wheel on the development roadmap. This feature lets players send quick contextual pings about incoming attacks or threats without typing in chat. For players who miss generic communication signals or get flamed for poor communication, the ping wheel will solve a real problem. It is tracked as part of the broader localization and communication improvements.

Negative OS ratings show as zero

Players who drop below zero on the OpenSkill scale do not see a negative number. Their rating displays as zero instead. This means a player appearing with zero rating could be a brand new account or someone whose rating went negative after consistent losses. Treat both cases similarly: match against them is a learning opportunity regardless of whether their rating is actually zero or slightly below.

Report bugs through GitHub

BAR tracks all reported bugs through GitHub Issues. Two repositories handle the bulk of reports: the Lobby and Launcher repo covers connection and UI problems, and the Game repo covers unit behavior, crashes, and gameplay bugs. Checking existing issues before filing a new one saves everyone time and helps developers prioritize.

Communication features that help everyone

Features like the ping wheel matter most for players who struggle with text communication or feel overwhelmed in voice chat. Communities that supplement built-in tools with organized team communication get the most value out of every feature.

Creed of Champions uses team-based coordination where communication happens naturally through practiced patterns, making features like the ping wheel even more valuable when they arrive.
