Leaving a match after your team resigns does not automatically save your rating. The outcome depends on timing and team results.
If a resignation happens very late in the match and the outcome is already decided, leaving may not cost additional rating. The team result still determines win or loss, but the rating impact can be limited when the match is essentially over.
If you leave before the resignation call is processed, the system treats it as a normal disconnect, which carries the standard rating penalty. Timing matters here.
Even if you disconnect after a teammate hits resign, the match result is calculated for the entire team. Your individual departure does not change whether the match registers as a loss.
This means your rating will reflect the team loss regardless of whether you stayed in the client or closed it after the surrender dialog appeared.
Wait for the resignation to process fully before closing the game. If the surrender vote passes, the match ends cleanly and rating is applied based on the team outcome. Leaving early creates uncertainty about how the system processes your final standing.
If you are concerned about rating in a specific scenario, checking the post-match rating change in your profile gives you the clearest answer.
Handling match exits cleanly is part of playing with discipline. Creed of Champions runs competitive games where teammates communicate through every situation, including when a match becomes unwinnable. No blame, no rage quits, just clean execution and moving to the next game. If that sounds like your kind of team, check them out.
