When a teammate disconnects or leaves during a match, the rating system treats it as a team loss. Your individual rating takes the hit even though the situation was not your fault.
BAR uses an open-skill rating model that calculates outcomes based on team composition and results. If a team loses because a player left, the rating system still processes the full team result. The departing player receives the disconnect penalty while remaining teammates take the normal match loss.
Near the end of matches, leaving after a confirmed resignation carries reduced risk because the outcome is already determined.
You cannot prevent random disconnects. You can control your response. Playing toward the match conclusion cleanly and waiting for the resignation processing avoids compounding rating damage from your own departure.
Creed of Champions organizes coordinated team play where disconnects are rare and teammates communicate through tough situations. Structured team environments reduce the random losses that ladder grind creates.
