Seasonal resets increase your uncertainty value, which temporarily lowers your visible OS rating. You did not lose skill, the system is recalibrating.

At the start of each new season, BAR raises the uncertainty value for every player. The visible OS rating subtracts uncertainty from your base skill number. Higher uncertainty means lower visible rating. Players whose uncertainty dropped below 5 during the previous season see a small displayed rating drop when the season resets.
Games with seasonal MMR resets never drop you to zero. They reset or relax your uncertainty-equivalent rating, which is what makes you face slightly easier opponents at the start of a season. BAR follows the same pattern. Your underlying skill value stays intact. The visible number shifts because the system needs fresh data to recalibrate the active player pool.
The uncertainty value contracts as you play more games in the new season. Expect three to five matches before your displayed rating starts climbing back toward your actual level. If you played dozens of games last season, the recalibration happens faster because the system already has a precise read on your skill.
Clear information, clean execution, and low-drama learning habits help teams improve without pointless blame.
