BAR has a built-in formation command that spreads your group into a line without manual clicking of every unit.

Hold ALT and right click to create a formation line. The game spreads your selected units along that line automatically. This works when you have a mixed group of different unit types and want them spread across your army front evenly.
You can also right click and drag to set a formation shape. Move your mouse to adjust width and depth, then release. Units follow the formation shape and stay organized as they move. This is cleaner than clicking individual target points for every unit in a large push.
Spread formations work best for anti-air setups, artillery lines, and mixed unit pushes where you want even coverage. Clumping your entire army into a single point makes you vulnerable to splash damage and area denial weapons.
Combat commanders benefit from formation control too. Lining up constructor units to build simultaneously along a front speeds up base setup significantly.
