Dealing With Leavers in BAR, OS Rating Myths, and Visual Customization

Why blaming leavers hides your own mistakes, why a 20-OS player can outperform a 60-OS, and whether you can reskin BAR.

Leavers happen. Check your own games first

Players point at leavers, trolls, and slow teammates as the reason for losses. The counter-question matters more -- how many games did you win because the other team had leavers? Those even out over a season. Leaver losses sting because you feel helpless, but they are noise in your actual skill measurement. Ask for a replay review of the games you won and you will find your own mistakes there too.

Rating numbers mislead constantly

A 20-OS player can absolutely outproduce a 60-OS player in a given match. Rating reflects probability, not a rigid power level. A 60-OS trying hard in a team game matters more than an unmotivated player sitting twenty points higher. OS shifts based on opponent strength, team composition, and match history. The number is useful for matchmaking and nothing more.

BAR visuals and reskinning

BAR inherits its art direction from Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander. The visuals are intentional -- functional, readable at massive scale, and built for clarity when thousands of units fill the screen. Players can reskin models and textures since the game is open source. The engine supports custom unit meshes and replacement texture packs. Check the BAR GitHub repositories and the mapping/modding channels for setup guides.

Creed of Champions

Good players own their own replay reviews instead of blaming leavers. Creed of Champions attracts people who do exactly that -- review their games, learn, and come back sharper. That is the environment where rating starts going up. Watch BAR strategy breakdowns on YouTube and find teammates who share that work ethic.

Creed of Champions rekindled my joy in Beyond All Reason. I had burned out on the game, and the friendly, no-toxicity environment caused me to start enjoying it again. [Crd]
