The search bug
Multiple players have reported that the replay site search returns player not found for any name they enter. This appears to be a known issue with the replay page search function. The replays exist but the search index is not returning results properly.
Workarounds that work
- Try searching for shorter versions of the player name.
- Use the relationship search page as an alternative entry point.
- Access replays directly through the player profile link if you have it.
- Check the battle history page on server4.beyondallreason.info/battle which sometimes has data the replay page misses.
Why this happens
The replay site processes games in a queue as described in other articles. When the processing pipeline falls behind or encounters errors, the search index can become stale or incomplete. Player names with special characters, capitalization variations, or name changes are especially likely to be missed by the search function.
When it gets fixed
Search issues on the replay site tend to resolve themselves when the underlying index is rebuilt. If the problem persists for more than a day, report it through the appropriate bug channels so the development team knows it is affecting players.
