Why is my OS still at zero after winning BAR matches?
You win back-to-back games and your rank doesn't budge. That's not a conspiracy, it's a known quirk of how BAR handles rating updates.
Rank updates don't apply instantly
The rating system doesn't push changes the moment a match ends. There's a delay, sometimes noticeable. If you just finished two wins and your OS still reads zero, give it a moment before assuming something is broken. It also takes into account how many losses you already had at zero — the system corrects from your full history, not just the latest match.
Starting ratings should be lower
A common complaint from new players is that the OS floor is set too high. When you start at zero and grind upward slowly, a couple losses can wipe out hours of progress. Experienced players have suggested the system should begin new accounts at a lower baseline to reduce the frustration. The current system hasn't changed on this front, so the practical advice is to push through the early losses and trust the rating will reflect actual skill over time.
How to report players who break the rules
If someone is cheating, griefing, or otherwise violating rules, you can report them directly. Go to the BAR server website at server4.beyondallreason.info/battle, find the match, click the "players" tab, and report the user from there. You can also search by name on the relationships page at server4.beyondallreason.info/account/relationship/search — just don't press Enter in the search field or it will bug out. You get a full report of who you played, making it easy to file clean complaints.
When a match feels too wild to be real
Some plays are so aggressive they look like cheating from the other side. That's just BAR being BAR. The game rewards bold pushes and unexpected flanking maneuvers. If a play looked "evil" enough that you assumed the person would get kicked — they probably just out-read the situation. Take notes instead of complaints.
It is so easy to get on with everyone and there is zero toxicity. Just fun games of BAR which can have quite a toxic community usually.
